First contact Physio – NHS

First contact physiotherapy is a new model starting from April 2020 where Advanced physiotherapy practitioner will be working at local GP surgeries managing the musculoskeletal conditions.

In Uk 30% of the GP caseload is musculoskeletal conditions, having physiotherapist dealing with the musculoskeletal caseload means the patients get seen quicker and recover faster. Several pilot studies in recent years has proven that FCP services ease pressure of the GP’s, reduces secondary care referrals, investigations and prescriptions. It also provides faster and cost-effective management of the musculoskeletal conditions and reduces patient waiting time.

Nexus Health is currently involved in developing the FCP services in GP surgeries in London and the surrounding areas.

We provide Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioners to the local GP practices to manage their musculoskeletal caseload.
